The SP Jain EMBA: Gateway to New Opportunities

Abhishek Mitra: EMBA(Mumbai)-2017

I have been associated with Siemens for the past ten years and it has been an enriching journey for me serving two business Units-Process Drive Automation and Service business for the organisation. This involved my role change from sales, business development of products to systems and service based solution. I took over the current role in 2013 as Siemens entered into the field of data service with process based analytics, understanding machine to machine behaviour.

I was in Germany until 2014— understanding the global service model which has been developed and how it can be scaled to the requirement for the specific region. This gave me a thorough technical understanding as to how we should benchmark the Siemens installed base here in India and cater to the customer specific requirement in order to give a value based service.

In the past couple of years, we have been successful in providing value based data service solution to our customers in various industry vertical like, automobiles, food & beverage, chemical, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals. At this stage of my career, I felt that although I was doing quite well in my knowledge based roles, I needed to learn about other important aspects of business like finance, strategy building, operations etc.

At SP Jain’s Executive MBA program, I was fortunate enough to hone my skills in the above mentioned business areas, helping me leverage the knowledge I gained. So far the journey has been splendid. The S P Jain EMBA is really challenging. It helped me hone my skills and leverage the knowledge I gained to be a different person altogether. I strongly feel that the challenges you face during your EMBA degree will push you to think critically and look at things from a different perspective.

We have reached halfway of this executive program, and I already have a better opportunity other than Siemens where I see my future aspirations. This move in my career will help me look at the various aspects of business verticals from a bird’s eye. I will be stepping into the Country Head role with additional responsibilities to look after as well as the overseas operations of the new organisation. I believe this journey with S P Jain has helped me in getting my dream role and I look forward to the new challenges and opportunities in the near future. I realise that after completion of this MBA program, I will be much more confident and will be in a better position to take control and steer effectively my new organisation into the future.

A special thank you to all my faculty members, staffs of S P Jain for their support and contributions to this program. Keep doing the good work. I wish everyone all the very best for their future endeavour.
